How a Restaurant Retail Chain Uses Microsoft Dynamics GP for Real Business Intelligence

Imagine having to manage the operations of 38 restaurants and also have a system for reliably managing the finances. It can be a scary task to take on without some type of help. If your daily sales reports are not dependable, you will have a difficult time predicting future sales performance and will ultimately fail to plan properly for your business’ growth. One restaurant chain faced such a dilemma.

Rather than turning to a third-party software program and adding even more complexity to their business process, this restaurant chain connected its Microsoft Dynamics GP installation to each of its restaurant’s Point of Sales systems, automating the entire process. With a click, the accounting clerk could create GL and AP transactions for each restaurant. The result was highly accurate reporting and business intelligence (BI) that the company could use to thoroughly analyze and evaluate its business.

Regional managers for the restaurant chain now have actionable business intelligence at their fingertips. The blending of Microsoft Dynamics GP with their Point of Sale system has provided them with “comparative metrics and analytics with daily information on the profitability of each restaurant in comparison to other locations.” By evaluating each restaurant’s performance, the restaurant chain was able to glean valuable data about each one and then determine which strategies were working and how to duplicate that success with other restaurants.
